MESSAGE FROM THE FOUNDER

The breast - symbol of nurturing and sensuality is under fire! Cancer deforms it, forces us to surgically remove it just to eradicate this killer-disease. Breast Cancer deprives women of hope, strength, and productivity. It deprives family and society of our women.

When we started this advocacy in 2000, we would approach all groups we thought who would have a soft spot for our cause – “fighting breast cancer”. Breast cancer has been the number one death-causing cancer that afflicts women, and second
only to lung cancer for both sexes, in the Philippines.

After 6 years, the Philippine Foundation for Breast Care Incorporated-National (PFBCI-National) and the Breast Care Center of East Avenue Medical Center
(BCC-EAMC) at Quezon City continue to thrive through the efforts and generosity of persons, groups and organizations who have responded to our call.

As of June 2006, we have 900 patients under our care at BCC-EAMC from all walks of life receiving holistic cancer care. They are vendors, housewives, professionals, students, mothers and daughters, aunts, girlfriends. On top of all these, are our continuous community-based advocacy and empowerment services toward prevention, early detection and early treatment of breast cancer.

Two years ago, Philippine Foundation for Breast Care Incorporated - Bacolod City Chapter (PFBCI-Bacolod City Chapter) and Breast Care Center of Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital
(BCC-CLMMRH) at Negros Occidental were established. As of June 2006, there are around 300 patients being served.

Many of our benefactors have adopted patients and gave them a second chance
at life by providing resources for their diagnosis and treatment, from mammography to surgery, from radiation to the much dreaded expenses of chemotherapy. We are most grateful to them.

This website is a great venue to connect with you,
to show you that there are so many ways to make a difference in the lives of women, and men, living with breast cancer. Near or far, one may selflessly share his / her talents, skills, precious time, resources, and blessings with our patients through the Foundation. Whatever one may share is an investment in a life
-a life of a breast cancer patient, for her survival,
for her family, and for us in society where women make a big difference.

In behalf of the Philippine Foundation for Breast Care Incorporated, I encourage everyone to browse our website, but please, do not stop here. With each webpage comes an experience of life - of a patient,
a survivor, a volunteer, a donor, a foundation member /partner, or an anonymous. Make a difference. Share our cause. Click at our donation page and help us sustain this advocacy.

Thank you very much for your generosity.
